REVA FRANCES LAING

Reva passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the age of 93 years. She was predeceased by her husband Stuart; daughter Joanne McClenaghan; parents, Roy and Grace McLennan; five sisters-in-law and eight brothers-in-law. Reva is survived by her son Bob (Brenda) of Leader, SK;  son-in-law Ron McClenaghan; seven grandchildren, Boyd (Dawn), Bryce (Jilana) and Allison (Dylan), Stuart, Jeff (Ashley), David (Andria), and Gary (Pam); eleven great-grandchildren; her sister Vera Laing; two sisters-in-law; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Reva was born on November 11, 1924 on the family farm near Bethune, SK.  A year later the family moved into Bethune where Reva grew up and completed her grade twelve education.  She then attended the Cornwall College of Commerce in Regina.  From 1943 to 1948, Reva worked for Massey Harris in Regina. In 1948, she married Stuart Laing, a returned veteran from WWII. After almost twenty years of being a homemaker, Reva joined Stuart at the farm fuel, hardware business in Bethune, and worked there every day. She was also a member of the Bethune United Church and taught Sunday school for many years. In 1997, following Stuart’s passing, Reva moved to Regina, where she remained until her passing. Reva volunteered at the Red Cross, was a member and volunteered at IODE, and very much enjoyed volunteering whenever High Tea was held at Government House.  She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking. Reva enjoyed watching Indy car races, hockey, and curling. She attended several Silver Broom competitions, even including one in Scotland.
