Obituary of Janice Elizabeth MacNeill
With her family by her side, Janice passed away peacefully after a short, courageous battle with cancer on the afternoon of Sunday, April 29, 2018. She was born on July 25, 1942 in Kelvington, SK. to Sigurd and Margaret Hanson. Upon completion of high school, she moved to Saskatoon where she worked in the Department of History at the University of Saskatchewan. During this time she also raised her two sons, John and Wade. She made the move to Regina in 1980 and began a long career with the Provincial Government (Crown Investment Corp.) until her retirement. She married Bernie (Bernard) MacNeill in 1981. Together they travelled extensively around Canada and eventually built a cabin at Candle Lake. They shared many years together until Bernie’s passing in 2009. Janice is also predeceased by her sister Vivian and her nephew Brent. Janice enjoyed travelling, gardening, sewing, bargain hunting, and also enjoyed spoiling her two cats, Miss Kitty and Tommy, as well as supporting the Regina Humane Society and Regina Street Cat Rescue. Janice is survived by her sons, John Falk (Charlaine), and Wade Falk (Sandra); step daughters, Shannon MacNeill (Russ), Maureen MacNeill (Alex); step son Doug MacNeill (Tarina); four grandsons, Evan and Josh Falk and Reid and Cole Folk; and three granddaughters, Sarah, Larissa, and Chelsea MacNeill. As per Janice’s request there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make memorial donations in Janice’s name to the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143 Stn.
