Camille was born on October 4, 1942, to (Marie) Constance (nee Bedard) Jerome & Levi Joseph Jerome, in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.
She died May 27, 2018, of COPD and Lung Cancer.
A Celebration of Camille's Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. A brief prayer service with reception will be held the same day at the Cupar and District Nursing Home, 213 Mills Street. Cupar, SK at 1:30 p.m.
Camille was just recently predeceased by her sister Elaine of Calgary, in March. Also passed are her mother in 2000, and her father in 1971.
She is survived by Carmen, the youngest sister by 18 years, and her brother-in-law Roman Hurko,
both of New York, NY. In addition she leaves three adult nieces, their husbands, and a great niece and nephew, all in Alberta.
Camille had been a Grey Nuns trained Registered Nurse for various hospital ICUs, ERs, for incarcerated souls at the Ottawa Detention Centre and, on forensic psychiatry at the Ottawa General. When she returned to Saskatchewan in 1986 she then served as a special nurse for Total Care Nursing Services.
Camille was an avid walker and in her younger years, she was active with tennis, down hill skiing, sailing and, was wonderful with interior design. In her later years she adopted the position of armchair quarterback for sports, enjoying her Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Jets. She followed politics regularly and, in retirement she enjoyed and excelled at her classes in Creative Writing. Too, and significantly, she joined Probus Club of Regina - an international social and educational club for Seniors, where she met Mary and Pete Hoeppner, who were then very helpful as she declined. Also, we thank her longest friend from nursing school days who cared and came, Gloria Carpa. In addition, sincere regards to Wascana Rehabilitation Center; you gave her healing and true joy with your beautiful grounds and services. Too, all the doctors, the psychiatrists & social workers, in private practice and otherwise and, the staff at The Regina General Hospital, the ER, ICU, Medical and Psych units.
Finally, Gratefu! Gratefu! to our ‘angel’ Care Coordinator
of Cupar and District Nursing Home, Louise Gullage -
and the whole team of caring professionals there, who gave her care & community, and who truly do God's work in action.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Humane Society, P.O. Box 3134 Station Main, Regina, S4P 3G7. Cupar Nursing Home, 213 Mills Street. Cupar, SK, S0G 0Y0, or to any organization for Mental Health Services. Camille also struggled mightily, and suffered profoundly, the effects and complexities of bi-polar, schizoaffective disorder. If you can, contribute prayers, goodwill and/or cheques for: increased awareness of stigma, for services, research and, for Holy Hope!
May all affected BE blessed!
Sometimes it takes more than a village...
May Camille finally rest in Peace, and in merciful God’s Eternal, positive, & forgiving Memory.
