Obituary of Judith Mae Westerlund
Judith Mae Westerlund (nee Ramsay), 68, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Vancouver, BC, Judith grew up in Saskatchewan, going to school in Saskatoon and raising her family in Regina. Her love for the West Coast was always with her. Judith moved back to live in Vancouver for almost 20 years before returning to retire in Saskatchewan to be with her children and grandchildren in 2013. She loved time spent with her family and always said she was so fortunate and blessed. Judith’s working and volunteer life was diverse. Loving her first career as a dental hygienist, she also enjoyed office administration, marketing and event planning in accounting and law firms. Her volunteer causes included working with animals in Regina, The Junior Service League and remarkably providing compassion and support to patients in palliative care in Vancouver. Wherever she was, she made a connection with someone. A strong and gentle soul, Judith’s love for her family and passion for music, art and animals would stand out as the most important parts of her life. Young at heart, beautiful inside and out, Judith’s vibrant spirit attracted people and fun to her. She could make anyone feel good by sharing the sparkle in her eye and greeting you with a big smile. Left to honour her memory are her children, Tina Getz (Paul) and David Westerlund (Nicole); Grandchildren, Owen Westerlund, Adam Westerlund and Lucia Getz; Siblings, Wendy McLeod (Ronald) of Saskatoon and Brent Ramsay (Insouk) of Whitehorse; Her treasured nieces, nephews and their families; and many special friends at home and throughout the country. She was predeceased by her parents, Forrest and Joyce Ramsay. Judith and her family want to thank the nurses, doctors and staff in the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital for their kindness and support over the last couple of weeks. A Come and Go Celebration of her life will be held at Skye Café & Bistro, 2903 Powerhouse Drive, Regina, SK, on Sunday June 10, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. A private family interment is planned for a later date.
