Obituary of Brent Gordon Hamilton
HAMILTON, Brent
On Thursday, June 14, 2018, Brent Hamilton passed into his next journey; his sons held his hand as Van Morrison played until his final breath. He listened to videos of his grandchildren laughing, and read the Yankees box-score, which was fitting given his lifelong love of the team.
Brent had a passion and deep knowledge of music and literature. His recommendations of the next great band or book is a lasting gift to many. The true soundtrack of Brent’s life was friends and family. Brent was fiercely loyal, loving and kind, but the man nicknamed Hammer never abandoned a fight he believed was just. He believed in living simply and humbly. His laughs and stories were worth more than gold.
Brent would want us all to stand up for what is right, not wait to say I love you, hug often and never stop learning and laughing. His wit was legendary. It was his gift.
Brent ran dozens of races and he ran them fast. We like to think he just finished a sub three-hour marathon and is enjoying a cold beer with Mickey Mantle laughing at the Blue Jays’ record. Brent’s last wish, had he been able to make it, would have been to remind us to stop and smell the roses and watch the world go by because it all goes so fast.
Love you Dad.
Brent is predeceased by his parents Roberta and Ken Hamilton. He is survived by his children, Matthew, Connor, and David (Ashley and children Oliver, and Lydia); siblings, James, Darryl, and Jan; and nieces and nephews, Kenton, Braden, Jenna, Chelsea, Alex, and Josh. The family would like to acknowledge and thank his close friend Myrna.
A celebration of Brent’s life will take place at the Cultural Exchange, 2431 8th Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. (come and go).
