Obituary of Elizabeth Higgins

ELIZABETH (LIL) HIGGINS April 2, 1921 January 3, 2012 Lil passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband Doug in 2006; parents Arthur and Maria; brothers Thaddeus, Constantine and Arthur; sisters Mary, Greta, Kathleen, Una and possibly Bella (whom the family lost contact with many years before). Elizabeth is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Ballyclare, Ireland and grew up in a loving family of nine children. She graduated from Tir-na-nOg Technical High School in Ballyclare and then went on to work as a Stenographer in London, England for the British Government. While living in London as a young woman, she loved going to dances and met the love of her life Doug at one of these dances. Elizabeth and Doug moved to Regina in 1953 where she worked as a Secretary with the Government of Saskatchewan. She was a member of the Catholic Womens League, and Elizabeth and Doug truly enjoyed their cottage at B-Say-Tah. Lil cherished memories of her travels with Doug to Ireland, Hawaii and Arizona. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wascana Heights House for their kind and compassionate care during Lils stay. A Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Friends so wishing may make a donation, in memoriam, to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Regina General Hospital, 1440 14th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 0W5 or St. Annes R.C.
