Obituary of Harry Max Hrycak

HRYCAK, Harry

Harry Hrycak, beloved husband of Mabel Hrycak, of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the age of 72 years. He was born in Montmartre, SK on May 16, 1946. After high school graduation, Harry moved to Regina and began working with the Department of Highways, where he worked for 32 years. After retirement, he worked for 10 years at Municipal Hail Insurance, and volunteered at the Marian Centre regularly. Family has always been very important to Harry and he took pleasure in family gatherings. He enjoyed many hobbies, including model trains, cross-country skiing, and duck hunting. Harry loved country music and would never miss an opportunity to dance. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage and devoted to St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Harry nourished his faith by scripture reading and by participating in many programs, retreats and seminars. He had a deep faith that he lovingly shared with others through action and prayer. Harry’s faith sustained him through several years of a debilitating illness, and he was an inspiration to many. He will be sadly missed. Harry was predeceased by parents, Mike and Rose Hrycak; sisters, Joey Nagy, Janet Bank, Teresa Zrymiak, Marie Phillips, and Stevie Bank; and brothers-in-law, Bill Gorniak, Bert Phillips, and Frank Bank. Harry is lovingly survived by his wife Mabel; children, Lori Keith (Marc) and Jeff Hrycak; grandchildren, Keira and Abby Keith, and Dylan and Julia Hrycak; sisters, Margaret Gorniak, Micheline Johnston (Bruce), and Angie Ripplinger (Bernie); brothers, Tom Hrycak (Natalie) and John Hrycak (Judy); brothers-in-law, Steve Bank, Nelson Nagy, and Mike Zrymiak; and many nieces and nephews. Divine Liturgy will take place at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1747 Toronto Street, on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Vladimir Simunovic officiating. Interment in Montmartre, Saskatchewan.
