GRANT HAROLD MARTIN ARMSTRONG May 10, 1926 January 9, 2012 Passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 in Regina, SK. Grant Harold Martin Armstrong was born May 10, 1926 in Regina. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan, College of Law, he was admitted to the Law Society of Saskatchewan in 1951 and practised law for 34 years. He was appointed Queens Counsel in December 1973 and served as a bencher from 1972 to 1979 and as president of the Society in 1977. It was during his term as president that the benchers adopted the Societys Code of Professional Conduct. He served as a director of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada from 1975 to 1980 and as president from 1980 to 1981. In 1985, he was appointed judge of the Court of Queens Bench for Saskatchewan in Regina, a position he held until his retirement in 2001. Committed to the community, he was active for decades with the United Way, including a term as president. He was also a very involved member of the Knox Metropolitan United Church congregation serving as a Trustee from the 1950s until his death. Grant served with the Royal Canadian Artillery during WWII and was a member of Reginas Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), particularly with the Library Committee where his dry humour and precisely considered and delivered opinions were much appreciated. His loss is deeply felt by his wife Mary, his daughter Jane and his son Doug, daughter-in-law Darlene, and grandchildren Shafeeq, Cole and Jill. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to a charity of their choice. Funeral Service will be held at Knox Metropolitan United Church, 2340 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, January 13, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
