Obituary of Marjorie Cameron Helen Keehr
KEEHR, Marjorie Leaving us to join Orris, who was the love of her life, husband, and best friend for over 70 years, Marjorie passed away on March 7, 2018 at her residence in Victoria, BC. Predeceased by her husband Orris in 2012, her daughter Margaret (Peggy) in 1989, by her parents Havilah and Ernest Graham, her sister Jean, and brothers Ralph, Jim, and Don, Marjorie leaves her daughter Nancy Keehr (Jim Haskins) of Victoria, BC and a number of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan on March 1, 1923, the youngest of five children, Marjorie grew up and spent most of her life in Regina where First Baptist Church played a pivotal role. She served her church, participated in the Circle, became a Deaconess and helped to organize many events at the Church. It was at the Baptist Youth Camp that she met the dashing young man she would devote her life to. She was a student at Wetmore School and Central Collegiate and following graduation started working for the Federal Income Tax Department at the Regina office. When Orris returned from serving overseas she left the working world and concentrated on her family and raising her daughters, in whose achievements she took immense pride. In addition to volunteering at First Baptist Church, Marjorie also volunteered with Red Cross and the CNIB. She was an avid fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and proudly wore her green and white jersey at her BC residence when the Riders were playing in BC. She took up golf and enjoyed the times spent at the Royal Regina or on the links at Kenosee Lake where the family had a summer cottage. She enjoyed cross country skiing and regularly skied along the trails next to Wascana Lake with Orris. She especially enjoyed dancing and together with Orris, and took every possible opportunity to dance. A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Speers Family Centre (2333 Cornwall Street, Regina). The family respectfully declines floral memorials and asks that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
