Obituary of Patricia Dorothy Briggs

PATRICIA DOROTHY BRIGGS (nee Ransom) January 16, 1931 - January 20, 2012 We are saddened to announce the peaceful death of our dear Mom, wife, nanna, great-nanna, sister and friend Pat Briggs. Mom died peacefully on Friday, January 20th, four days after her 81st birthday. Mom was an extraordinary woman of immense courage, dignity and compassion and will be missed by all. Left to celebrate her amazing life is her beloved husband of 59 years Reginald, her sons Jamie and Mark, daughter Marsha and husband Paul, granddaughter Jocelyn, grandson Jean-Paul and his wife Karla and her first great grandchild Payton. Left to mourn is Moms sister Enid, husband Pat and their children Jodeane, Devon, Braden and Erin, their spouses and children; as well is Lillian Briggs, sister-in-law and all the much loved Briggs cousins and their families. Mom had a very special spot in her heart for Jocelyn, Jean-Paul, Karla and for six month old Payton. Family was everything to Mom and she dedicated her life to all of us. Her values came from being raised in the Great Depression and war years in the small community of Togo in east-central Saskatchewan. Strong women who filled in while the men were overseas played a huge role in shaping her personality, especially her grandmother who moved from Vancouver to raise a large family on her own in a rural setting, a gift Mom imparted to the female family members who remain to cherish her memory. Thanks to the compassionate nurses and staff at the Pasqua Hospital 3A and at Sunset Extendicare for their incredible support and kindness in Moms last days. There will be a reception to celebrate Moms life on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Marsha and Pauls house starting at 6:00 p.m., 50 Culliton Crescent, Regina.
