Obituary of Enid Lenora Hawkes

ENID LENORA (nee Hanson) HAWKES 1922 2012 Enid passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a long illness on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the age of 89. She was formerly of Broadview, Stoughton and more recently Outlook. Enid was born on her parents farm near Kipling in 1922. She married Raymond, the love of her life in 1943. Following his RCAF service, they farmed near Broadview until 1959 when Raymond joined the Co-op and they began moving around southern Sask. Enid was active in many community organizations, including the Legion Auxiliary and various Lutheran church groups. She was an avid golfer and walker. Enid was predeceased by her parents; husband Raymond; infant daughter Sandra Lee; sisters Sadie Gathercole and Gladys White; brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her daughter Loretta (Regina); sisters Jean Ovans and Leta Johnson (Regina); sisters-in-law Joyce Hawkes (Edmonton) and Helen Hawkes (Mississauga); brother-in-law Bud Dennis (Spruce Grove); nieces Linda, Myrna (Regina) and several other nieces and nephews; special friends Mary Anne and Marian (Regina); and Anne and daughters Noreenah and Leanna (Calgary). The family is very grateful and appreciative for the compassionate and loving care she received from all the staff at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home, especially the nurses on 2nd floor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home or Santa Maria Building Renewal Fund, 4215 Regina Avenue, Regina, SK, S4S 0J5.
