Obituary of Janina Aniela Janice Abrahamowicz

JANINA ABRAHAMOWICZ (nee Paslawska) Janina passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the age of 89 with family members at her side. Beloved wife of Kazimierz for 64 years, and dearly loved by her children, Stanley (Leokadia), Elizabeth, Mike (Brenda), Barbara (John) and John (Marysia). She will be lovingly remembered by all of her grandchildren, Christopher (Krystal), Andrew (Callie), Elena (Mike), Monika (Keith), Joshua (Lynnette), Jennifer, Brian (Victoria), Lisa, Jeffrey and Thomas; as well as her great-grandchildren Violet, Emma and Ava. Janina is also remembered by her sister Anna (Edward) and brother Kazimierz (Kazimiera); as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Poland. Janina was predeceased by her parents Maria and Wincenty, as well as two infant sons and her youngest sister Jozefa. She was born in 1922 in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1960 with her husband and five children. Before her retirement, she worked for many years at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Pasqua Hospital. Janina will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother and Kochana Babcia to all her grandchildren. Her quiet faith in Jesus Christ gave her strength in her daily life and was an example to all who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Village (2 West) for their long term loving care of Janina, especially in the final days of her life. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthonys Parish, 2275 Atkinson Street, Regina on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Marian Ogorek, SCh presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
