Obituary of Doreen Hilda Muxlow

Doreen Hilda Muxlow (nee Cochlin), late of Sedley, SK, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by parents, Pat & Maude Cochlin; husband, Bob Muxlow. Doreen is survived by daughters, Nancy (Kelly) Shaver, Joan Mackay and Laura Muxlow; grandchildren, Dawn Moyse, Tiffany Mackay, Tanya (Devan) Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Nash Mitchell, Hope Jensen, Emma Mitchell; sister, Elaine (Henry) Little; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doreen was born at her parent’s farm at Francis.  Doreen often talked about adventures with her horse Topsie going to school, working with her parents on the farm, sneaking her pet lamb into the house, feeding livestock and stooking sheaves at harvest. In 1954 Doreen married Robert (Bob) Muxlow and moved across the field to the Muxlow farmstead where they raised their three daughters. She was an avid cook and baker and always grew a large garden. She was very proud of her yard and spent many hours tending to the beautiful flowers.  She always said, ‘I don’t smoke, and I don’t drink, so I can splurge on bedding plants.’ Sadly, Bob passed away in 1981. Doreen, being a farm girl all her life, successfully continued with the farm along with her three girls. Family was the most important thing to Doreen and the yearly family trips to Cypress was enjoyed by all. In her later years, Doreen, being an animal lover, spent many hours enjoying the little birds, fox, deer and moose in her yard always making sure they had access to water.
