Obituary of Matthias Anton Ripplinger

MATTHIAS MAX? ANTON RIPPLINGER November 07, 1931 to February 20, 2013 Max, predeceased by his beloved wife Elsie, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Max will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his son, Mark (Shauna) Ripplinger and his daughters Sarah, Amy and step-son Avery Bauer; by his daughter, Sheila (Robert) Krohn and their children, Jaylene (Chris Hansen), Devin (Heather), Bryant and great-grandchildren, Soren, Isla and Tryg Hansen and Henrik Krohn; by his siblings, Joseph, Rev. Father Stephen, Anthony (Coreen), Angelina, Mary (Walter) Rog, Bernie (Angie), Edwin (Donna), Bernadette; and by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Max was predeceased by his two infant baby girls; his parents, Stephan and Catherine; step-mother Florentina; brothers Adam, Daniel, Frank and Arnold; and step-brothers Al and Ted Selinger. Max retired in 1986 after a 36 year career at SGI, the last 10 years as Manager of the Motor Vehicles Division. An avid fisherman, gardener and handy-man extraordinaire, Max would spend as much time as possible at the beach house? near Rowans Ravine where he and Elsie would grow every imaginable vegetable in their garden, entertain family and friends and hold camp-fires with spontaneous sing-songs whenever possible. He will be greatly missed by all his friends at coffee row Maxs near daily ritual for many years. He was always quick with a joke and a smile and a helping hand to anyone at any time. Deeply committed to his faith Max was always an active member at his church, contributing in many different capacities throughout his adult life. Max was a dedicated 60 year honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Father Hugonard 4th Degree Assembly and Holy Family Council and a past Grand-Knight, District Deputy and Chapter President. Max and Elsie were founding members of the South Saskatchewan Cardiac Support Group in 1997. Max spent the next 9 years visiting cardiac patients providing support and handing out heart pillows. Right up until his passing Max frequently visited cardiac patients at the Pasqua Hospital sharing his own experience in cardiac procedures and giving support. For the past few years he was a member of the Spiritual Care team visiting patients at the Pasqua Hospital. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the Pasqua Hospital ICU medical team, who tended so compassionately and professionally in his time of need. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Monday February 25, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to celebrate Maxs life will be held at Holy Family R.C. Church, 1021 McCarthy Blvd. North, Regina, SK on Tuesday February 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8.
