(née Larson)
Carol Louise Smith (née Larson), born on April 13, 1953, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the age of 65 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, John; their children, Jeffery (Savan) and Vanessa (Craig); grandchildren, Boyd and Kaybrie; parents, Clifford and Frances; sisters, Kathy and Penny; brother David (Alanna); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Carol fought a hard long 24 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Throughout that battle, she continued to be her loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Carol was always full of energy and enthusiasm and kept a positive attitude right until the end, no matter what challenges she faced each day.
Carol made sure she was part of her husband’s and children’s lives every day, whether it was just daily tasks or various sporting events, she was their number one fan. She loved to watch them swim, play basketball, hockey, and baseball. In the serious games, Carol would bring her best qualities out, the cowbell…
The grandkids became a huge part of her life. Carol would make sure she attended as many of their functions as she could. She would wheel her wheelchair right to the front to make sure she could see them participate and cheer them on.
We extend a heartfelt thank you and our deepest gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Victoria East Medical Clinic, who were a huge part of Carol’s life. To the RQHR home care staff, who worked hard and diligently and were compassionate in the care they gave her to make her stay at home comfortable. To the Wascana Rehabilitation staff, who became a huge part of Carol’s life over the last year. Lastly, to the staff of the ER unit at the Regina General Hospital and Palliative Care Staff at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, thank you.
Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in memory of Carol may be made to the MS Society, 150 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4R 2N2 or to Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK S4R 8P6.
