Obituary of Patricia Isabelle Smith

Patricia Isabelle Smith (nee Hayes) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, Saturday October 13, 2012. Patsy was born at Davidson, Saskatchewan May 8, 1925. In 1930 the family moved to the Sylvania district where they lived for five years. In 1935 the family moved to the Willow Hill district where she attended school, taking grades 9 and 10 by correspondence. In 1941 Patsy attended Business College in Prince Albert. On completion there, she went home to keep house for her dad and brothers. In September 1949 Patsy met and married Jim Smith and they settled in Eldersley. They had two sons, Larry James born in July 1950, and Robert Patrick born November 1953. Patsy drove the school bus for many years in the Eldersley district, starting in 1960. In 1972 Patsy and Jim built a house in Tisdale, but she continued to drive the Eldersley school bus until 1977. In 1977 Patsy and Jim moved to Fort McMurray where they lived for the next 10 years, returning to retire in Tisdale in 1987. Patsy was predeceased by her husband James Leonard in June 2011. After Jims death Patsy moved to Regina to be near family, residing at Mutchmor Lodge. Patsy was also predeceased by her parents Patrick and Margaret Ann Hayes and her seven siblings, sisters Edna (Maurice) Coulter, Gladys (Fred) Cote, brothers Wilfred (Margaret), Russell (Mary), Edward, Roy (Yvette), and Stanley (Susan). Patsy is survived by her sons Larry (Linda) and grandchildren Derek, Kristy (Jay), great granddaughter Brodie, Jeri-Lyn (Garth), great granddaughter Lucy Ann, son Bob (Val) and grandchildren Jason and Robyn.
