Obituary of Helen Chin
Helen Chin passed away peacefully on December 1st, 2018 at the age of 88 years.
Helen was born in Toi Shan, China and came to Canada with her husband John, in the early ‘50’s, to establish the OK Cafe in Rouleau, Saskatchewan. The cafe was a vibrant hub of social activity and they were fondly remembered by old and young, when John passed away and Helen retired in 2005. This farewell brought very good memories for Helen in the years that followed.
In her retirement, Helen moved to Ottawa to live with family there. She found great pleasure travelling and visiting family in Allentown, Calgary, Regina and Vancouver.
When special care required professional support, Helen received great care at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, the Glebe Centre and Peter D Clark long term care facilities. The family thanks the many staff at these facilities for their compassion and care. She also received many visits from her family and cherished their photos on her walls and TV.
Helen is survived by six children, Connie (Ken), Theresa, Sam, Tena (Brad), Jean (Kaj) and Tom (Polly), thirteen grandchildren, Joanna (Giulio), Kevin (Jennifer), Jason, Curtis (Ilinca), Gregory (Jennifer), Karsten (Brittany), Kieran (Emily), Amanda, Jonathan, Robert, Christina, Helen and Brandon and eleven great grandchildren Kenton, Teagan, Carolina, Dayla, Lucas, Alessandro, Isaac, Declan, Adrian, Everett, and Sophia.
Helen will be fondly remembered by her family and those she developed close friendships with.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Rouleau Senior Centre.
