Obituary of Eric Arthur Wanamaker

Eric passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife Jean; son Ken; daughter Diane Straile; grandson Cameron Handford; and son-in-law Russ Herrington. Eric is remembered lovingly by his daughters Sandra (Al) Crepin, Brenda George, Janet (Ed) Rossie, Heather Herrington, and Margret (Don) Latcher; son-in-law Terry Straile; grandchildren Richard (Sheri) Handford, Kent (Lori) George, Troy George, Tanya (Ashley) George, Robert (Cindy) Rossie, April Korchinski Wanamaker, Sally (Marshall) Montgomery, Jason (Stephanie) Straile, Terril (Sheridan) Chappel, Andrew (Jaime) Straile and Michael Straile; as well as 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Eric left the family farm to pursue a career in the Navy and traveled with the Navy throughout WWII. After the war, he met and married his wife Jean (nee Williams). They lived in BC, and all over Saskatchewan, finally settling in Swift Current. He worked at the Lyric Theatre as a projectionist. This was his lifelong career. Eric moved his family to Regina in 1968, where he worked in all the famous old theaters, The Capitol, The Met, The Roxy and the Broadway. Everyone remembers Erics hearty laugh which drew attention wherever he was! Eric found time over the years to build a boat and cottage by hand. He taught all his kids to water ski and was an avid motorcyclist, riding well into his 70s. Eric and Jean retired to Regina Beach where he renovated their cottage into a home, even digging an entire full sized basement by hand! Just before his death, Eric lived in the Queen Victoria Estates with his dog Spike, where they met many new friends. There will be a private family burial.
