Obituary of Martha Catherine Flaman
MARCH 23, 1930 – JANUARY 9, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Martha – devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Martha lived a full life of almost 89 years. She was born in Dysart, worked as a schoolteacher in the Fort Qu’Appelle area, and raised her family with her husband Fred on a farm near Southey. Fred and Martha had 62 years together and enjoyed the “good life” on their winter trips to Mesa, Arizona. Martha loved watching her family grow and passed along her love of music, reading, travel, learning, as well as cards and word games. Martha was humble, gentle, faithful, and actively involved in many aspects of the Church. She is reunited in heaven with her husband Fred; her infant daughter Catherine; her parents August and Julia Brodner; and her siblings Bill, Alphonse, John, and Mary. Left to cherish her memories are her eight children, Paul (Maggie) Flaman, Marge (John) McFadyen, Agnes (DarryI) Dennis, Al (Anne) Flaman, Cecile (Rich) Miller, Loretta (Chris) Froh, Janet (Norm) Trenaman, and Rick (Sharon) Flaman; twenty four grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; and her sister Helen (Lionel) Hoffarth. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. James R.C. Church, 198 Burns Avenue, Southey, SK on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Martha’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice (William Booth Special Care Home), Dr. Fowora, as well as Safia and staff at the Ashton Manor for their wonderful and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Regina Wascana Grace Hospice (William Booth Special Care Home), 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK, S4R 8P6 or St. James Parish, Southey, SK.
