Obituary of Elaine Balkwill

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Dorothy Balkwill on Thursday, November 22, 2012 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Elaine was predeceased by her father A. Jim Hischebett. She will be sorrowfully missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years Tom, and their sons Steve (Angie); Dean (Lisa); and Danny (Katie) as well as her grandchildren Kate, Aimee, Jake; Jordan, Sumner, Parker. Also left to cherish her memory are her Mother Dorothy Hischebett; sisters Marilyn, Karen (Tom); brothers Bob (Debby) and Rick (Leah); mother-in-law Doris Balkwill, father-in-law Neil Balkwill, sister-in-law Marilyn (Phil) and brother-in-law Chris (Kim). Elaine was an exceptionally loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She was a kind and caring person with a happy spirit and positive outlook on life she was a joy to be with and be around. She loved to do things for others. She was passionate about singing, dancing and music and proudly supported her family in their musical and theatrical careers and achievements, and was an avid supporter of Saskatchewan Express. One of Elaines greatest passions was performing with the Sweet Adelines Chorus, which included traveling to various competitions in Canada and the United States to further her love of singing and music. She wore her Rider green at every opportunity and wasnt afraid to cheer loudly and proudly at every game - the Rider Nation truly lost a great fan. Elaine enjoyed working as a paralegal for Robb and Dowling and did so for 37 years where she formed lifelong friendships with both Barb Fiesel and Glen Dowling. She always enjoyed meeting and working with all of the clients and associates of the firm. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. If friends so desire, contributions may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 7T1 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 as tokens of remembrance.
