Obituary of Katherine McDonald

With great sorrow and sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother Katherine at the age of 90. She was predeceased by our father Jacob UBELL and step father John MCDONALD. Left to cherish her memory are children Ron (Carrie), Elaine (David) SWEENEY, Jack (Connie), Justin UBELL, Kathy (Danen) CONNELL, Ken (Angela), Wayne (Debbie) and Ed (Irene). She was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Katherine is also survived by three sisters and one brother, and many other family and friends. Mom was a very giving, kind, gentle, and hard working woman.  She was very proud of raising her eight children, being kept very busy cooking, baking, and canning the bounty from her beautiful gardens. After mom’s stroke in 2014, her mobility was very limited, but she faced her changes and losses with bravery and dignity and always loved visits from family and friends. Thank you to the staff members at Santa Maria Care Home who tried to make our mother’s stay as comfortable as they could. At mom’s request there will be no funeral service, but will have an immediate family gathering in warmer weather.
