Obituary of Rose Marie Lego

"Miss Rose Marie Lego of Regina, Sk., passed away peacefully, at Regina’s Extendicare Parkside care facility, on February 26, 2019 after a 3 year battle with cancer.  She was 75 years old.

Rose Marie is survived by her nieces Cathy (Neil) Dawes and Diane Lego; niece-in-law Gina Lego; her nephews Ken (Lorri) Lego and James (Liz) Lego; nine great-nieces and nephews; and four great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father George (1971) and mother Rosina (1986); brother Joseph Lego (2004); sister-in-Law Gwen Lego (2015); and nephew Robert Lego (2018).

Rose Marie grew up in the Catholic faith and attended St Mary’s Catholic Church on Winnipeg St.  Her early school years until Grade 8 were spent at St Joseph’s Elementary School.  She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and attended many of their functions and fundraising events.

After Rose Marie’s graduation from Balfour Collegiate she went to work at the Dairy Producers Co-Operative Creamery Ice Cream department where she worked for over 25 years. When they closed she worked for the Sear’s Call Centre for a number of years.

She loved to travel to Vancouver to see her brother’s family as well as to Germany, Switzerland and Philadelphia to visit extended family there.  Travel to Hawaii and Mexico with girlfriends brought her much joy and she took copious photos of her holidays.

Family was very important to Rose Marie and she spent many hours researching the genealogy of our ancestors and learning about the links between the generations past and present.

Her companions in life were her 4 cats whose antics and cuddles gave her joy.  She enjoyed cooking and baking traditional German foods learned from her Mom and she also spent much time in the garden nurturing the flowers she cultivated.  Hand crafts such as sewing, needlepoint, crocheting and knitting were learned at her Mother’s knee and she continued to create lovely items throughout her lifetime.

Memorial Service will take place at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment at Riverside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Canadian Diabetic Association would be an appropriate way to honour Rose Marie and further the research into a debilitating disease that was part of her life for many years.

"May she rest in peace."
