Obituary of Wladyslawa Kusiak

WLADYSLAWA SYLVIA? KUSIAK (nee Kubis) Sylvia passed away peacefully, at the age of 93, on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at the Regina Lutheran Home. She was predeceased by her husband, Antoni, in August 2004; her parents, Andrzej and Antonina; brothers Antoni, Jozef, Wicenty, Franciszek and Boleslaw; and a son and daughter in infancy. Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Anna; grandchildren, Lilia of Regina, Mark of Calgary and Krysta (Jason) Grieve of Saskatoon; and numerous nieces and nephews in Poland. She was born in Kluski, Poland on August 24, 1919. Sylvia married Antoni on February 17, 1939. During WWII, Sylvia joined her husband in Germany where they worked as farm labourers throughout the war. In January 1950, she and her son immigrated to Canada to join Antoni who was working on a farm in the Redvers area. They moved to Regina in June of that year. For a number of years, Sylvia worked at Hotel Saskatchewan. After her retirement, she devoted herself to her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and meeting friends at the Cornwall Centre. Thank you to the staff at Parkside Extendicare for their earlier care of Sylvia and a very special thank you to the staff of Heritage Heights at the Regina Lutheran Home for their excellent care of Mom over the past two and a half years. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthonys R.C. Church, 2275 Atkinson Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Stanislaw Poszwa, S.Ch. and Rev. Marian Ogorek, S.Ch. co-celebrants. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers most gratefully declined.
