Obituary of Freda Anna Turluk

On Wednesday, January 9, 2013, Freda, late of Zehner SK, passed away at the age of 85 years. Predeceased by her parents Karl and Karolina Selzer; one son Bradley Turluk; five sisters: Eda Hohn, Katie Walter, Millie Cowley, Ella Brodt and Edna Stronge; and three brothers: Alois Selzer, Rudy Selzer and Karl Selzer, Freda is survived by her loving husband of fifty-three years, John; children: Dennis Turluk, Shawna Turluk (Len Regier and son Cole Regier); and one grandchild Megan Turluk, all of Regina; one brother Dick (June) Selzer of Vancouver BC; one sister Bertha Sigmeth of Regina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Freda grew up in the Jameson area and after graduating from Normal School (Teachers College), she taught school at a number of rural schools, such as Bluff View School and Rosemont School in Regina. After meeting and marrying John, she lived at the farm in the Zehner area where she raised three children. Freda enjoyed reading, quilting, needle work, bird watching, gardening, music and volunteering for the Victoria Plains Community College. She enjoyed working with children, as well as community activities such as helping to organize the Victoria Plains School Christmas Pageants. In her later years she took great pleasure in spending time with her granddaughter. Visitation for family and friends at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1909 Ottawa Street, Regina on Tuesday, January 15 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Lindsay Hognestad. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
