Obituary of Julianna Wiest

Julianna Wiest of Regina passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 to be with her soul mate, Fred, exactly two months to the day since his passing. Theirs was a special love story and one could not be left on this earth without the other. Born June 21, 1919 near Dysart, to Rose and Joe Leibel, Julie was the eldest of 8 children. She worked hard during the Depression, tending to her younger siblings and learning to cook to feed the family as well as those who worked on the farm during those tough years. After her marriage to Fred on November 12, 1945, she became a professional homemaker, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was active in the CWL for over fifty years and was also a volunteer at the Marion Centre in Regina. Her door was always open to visitors, providing them with good meals and a crisp, clean bed to stay the night. Julie will be missed by all those that knew her and her great sense of humour. She will be dearly missed by those of us that she lovingly taught so much her sons Murray (Josie) of Vancouver Island, grandchildren Dallas, Tanya (Henry) and their mother Donna; Jim (Alie) of Vancouver Island, granddaughter Zena (Ian) and great-granddaughters Mikayla and Isabelle; Pat (Debbie) of Regina, grandsons Andrew and Fraser; and Tim of Regina and grandchildren Cameron, Elora and Dylan. Predeceased by her sisters Betty, Eleanor, Hilda and Delphine and brother Gordon, Julie leaves to mourn her sister Gladys (Bill) Lord, nieces Susan (Paul) Lord and Shannon (Peter) Lord and their families and brother Vern (Alva) Leibel and their family. She will also be fondly remembered by Freds brothers Cecil (Lea), Raymond (Joyce), sister-in-law Mary (Robert) and Sharon (Jim) Sprentz who was like a daughter to her, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks must, once again, go to Bob and June Hoffart, dear friends and the best neighbors that Mom and Dad could have had. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the caregivers and Kavita Ram at Sunset Extendicare for their kindness and care during Moms time at Sunset. Funeral Mass to celebrate Julies life will be held at St. Cecilias Roman Catholic Church, 5020 7th Avenue, Regina on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. J.B. Okai presiding. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice in Julies memory. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
