Obituary of Helen Mary Siegel
Helen passed away on Sunday July 21, 2019 at the age of 86 years. She was predeceased by her husband Fred in 2009; daughter Darlene in 1999; granddaughters, Heather and Barbara in 1993; parents, John and Katherine Klein; and sisters, Martha and Fredda. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Donna (Jeff); grandchildren, Mike (Meghan), and Ann; sisters, Beatrice, Rose (Ian), Agnes (Wayne); brothers, John (Phyllis) and Dennis; and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born on October 24, 1932 and was raised on the family farm NW of Glentworth, SK. She moved to Regina where she met Dad and married in 1951. Mom and Dad bought their first farm at Parry, SK in 1952, and then in 1964 they bought another farm west of Sedley. They moved again in 1972 to Regina, and during their retirement they travelled to Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Hawaii and drove their motor home throughout Canada and the US. Mom had a wonderful life on the farm, working alongside Dad. She had a huge garden at both farms and was a wonderful cook, often driving the meals out to the field for Dad during harvest. She loved to play cards – in earlier years, she played bridge, and later on cribbage – and could be quite competitive. Curling was her favorite sport to watch on TV, and she enjoyed Game shows as well. She loved her family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She made wonderful friends at Marion Gardens as well as at her last residence at Harbour Landing Village – these friendships meant so much to her. Graveside Service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK, on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Please meet inside the cemetery gates. A Celebration of Helen’s Life for family and friends will follow at Perk & Taps, in Harbour Landing Village, 4000 James Hill Road, Regina, SK at 2:00 p.m.
