Obituary of Garnet John Wesley Hearn

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garnet on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the age of 86. He passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital with family members present.

Garnet was predeceased by brothers Clifford (and Lily) Hearn, Norman Hearn and Teddy Hearn and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nadine; four children Alana (Arnie) Kowalchuk, Lori (Perry) Kelln, Kerry (Nadine) Hearn, and Neil (Robin) Hearn; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Garnet is also survived by his brother Delvin Hearn and sister Marjorie Weber; sisters-in-law, Viola Hearn and Julie Hearn; brother-in-law Ed Cairns; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Garnet was born on the Hearn family farm outside of Preeceville, Saskatchewan in 1932. When he moved to Regina he met Nadine and they were married in April 1958. After Garnet retired he enjoyed wood working and often made Christmas and garden ornaments for family and friends.

Garnet loved his family and friends. He enjoyed celebrating all occasions with his family, especially birthdays and Christmas. Garnet always loved camping, fishing, travelling and spending time with family. He never missed an opportunity to sit around a campfire. Over the years, Garnet and Nadine travelled to many places in North America and made a special trip to Ireland. Garnet has left his family with many wonderful memories.

Garnet’s dedication to his family was honourable and he has left a legacy within his family that will be carried on by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Garnet was a hero in the eyes of his family and will be deeply missed.

Garnet loved John Wayne movies and one of his last remarks was “All good guys go to heaven”.

There will be no formal service, a private family celebration will be held at a future date. Special thanks to all the wonderful nurses at the Pasqua Hospital.
