Obituary of Herbert Marvin Leir

HERBERT MARVIN LEIR February 20, 1938 April 27, 2013 Very peacefully, surrounded by family and friends; in the early hours of Saturday, April 27, 2013 our husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Herb Leir began his journey with his Lord and Saviour. He is now free of prostate cancer following his three-year struggle. Born on Sunday, February 20, 1938 in the QuAppelle Valley near Ellisboro, Saskatchewan, Herb attended Carr Hill School and Grenfell Stone Pile School. Herb was predeceased by his precious six year old daughter, Kimberley Dawn on May 18, 1985; his parents Christian and Elizabeth Leir; an infant brother John; his brother Alfred and his wife Lillian; his brother Karl and his wife Carolyn; his sister Ida and her husband Louis Penno; his brother Victor; his brother Edward; his brother-in-law Ron Wilson; his grandparents-in-law Henry and Daisy Olson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Verna Lipoth. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 47 years, Adaline; his sister Helen Wilson of Lethbridge; his sister Myrna and her husband Keith Shipley of Regina; his brother Donald and his wife Marlene of Pilot Butte; his sisters-in-law Rose Anne Leir and Elsie Leir, both of Grenfell and Joyce Leir of Lethbridge as well as many nieces and nephews and their extended families. Herb is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Clay and Dyan Lipoth of Regina, their children Shauna, her husband Jay Kerr and Christopher, his wife Kalynda Lipoth; as well as six great-nieces and great-nephews. Herb was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Grenfell on May 25, 1952 his godparents Ernest and Hilda Kohlert, who have also predeceased him. His special verse is Matthew 28:20. Visitation will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, TONIGHT, Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Service will take place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3825 Hillsdale Street, Regina on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The family invites you to wear casual attire or your Rider Green.?
