Obituary of Helen McInnis

We are sad to announce the passing of Helen on Saturday, April 27, 2013. She was predeceased recently by her husband Ken; and survived by her sons Ken Jr. (Deb), Thom (Cathyann), and nanna to Janelle and Isaac. Helen was born in Vancouver, and raised in Regina where she met her husband of 65 years. She danced for the Queen as a young girl, loved to dance with Ken at the Trianon in Regina while they were dating, and even kept "shaking it up" well into her late 70's whenever her and Ken could. Married in Regina, they were transferred to Fort William, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, and back to Regina. Helen gladly supported Ken in his leadership of the Shrine, and she was very active in the Shrine Ladies Auxiliary and St. Luke's Church. She volunteered helping handicapped children, taught first aid, and english as a second language. Helen was a kind, generous, fun-loving and inclusive lady. She passed away peacefully. Mom will be deeply missed. Special thanks to Raquel Barros and Jackielyn at the Albert Park Seniors Care home for their loving ways. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined; however friends may wish to make a donation in memoriam to the Wa-Wa Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, 2065 Hamilton Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2E1, or the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
