Obituary of Don Cook
Cook, Donald William
Don Cook, known to friends as "Don or Ding," passed away on September 17, 2019, at the age of 70 years after a brief illness.
Born in Bengough, Saskatchewan to Ruby and Frank Cook, dad lived and worked on the family farm in Ogema until they moved to Regina in 1954 and he attended Balfour Collegiate. In Regina he met Ruth Gradwell and married in 1967 and had two daughters Anita and Sheri.
Don always loved cars, fixing cars, driving cars and especially autobody which was his trade for many, many years. He loved fishing and hunting especially with his buddies and always had great stories to tell of their trips.
Somewhere around 2000 or maybe a little earlier, Don moved to Ernfold Saskatchewan. He bought a house and a few lots and loved living and working within the community helping others whenever he could.
In February of 2015 that house burned to the ground and dad moved to Morse. He continued to try and rebuild bigger and better but unfortunately was not able to complete the home due to health issues. His friends, family and communities came together with donations of clothing, furniture and funds to help and we are so grateful for everyone who loved and supported dad that way.
Dad will always be remembered for his grit, his loyalty, and his kindness for family, friends and even strangers. He was a farm boy at heart and could do anything and everything he set his mind to.
He is survived by his daughters Anita King (Denis Hein), Sheri Stack (Dwight Lyons) and their mom, Ruth Brown as well as grandchildren, Bob Cook (Alesha), Marco Biefeni, Kaysha Stack and Jake Stack plus 5 great grand children and his sisters, Dot Snelling (David) Marguerite Langley and brother Ed Cook (Carol), as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will be a come and go celebration of Don’s life with family and friends on Saturday, September 28th at Sheri & Dwight’s house for people local to us who wish to attend, and another in Morse in October, “after harvest” as per dad’s request.
