Obituary of Mary Jean Storozuk

STOROZUK, Mary Jean

 

Mary Jean Storozuk, late of Regina, SK, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the age of 99. Born on April 4, 1920 in Wynyard, SK, of Ukrainian and Polish Decent. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas in February 1994; daughter Elsie (Capko) in December 1993; parents Mary and Nick Zelinski; sisters Katie (John) Perahuda, Josie (Steve) Kowalski, Helen (John) Yaneshewski; brother Mike (Mary) Zelinski; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom is survived by her son Ray (Carolle) Storozuk, grandsons, Dustin, Richard and Robert (Lusia) and great-grandchildren Amara and Bodie; daughter Irene (James) Roberts, granddaughters Krystal, and Jamie (Caleb) Satterfield, and great-granddaughter Daytyn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was very devoted to St. Basils Church and her Ukrainian Culture. She was an active member of the (UCWL), Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League and (UNF) Ukrainian National Federation. Mom’s greatest joys were when she was asked to come and make perogies and cabbage rolls for these organizations for their various events. She was a home maker and later worked at Sask Power and Medical Arts prior to her retirement. Mom loved having family and friends over to play cards almost every Saturday evening and making them something to eat and offering drinks. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1747 Toronto St. Regina, SK, on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Telemiracle and Kinsmen Foundation, 2217C Hanselman Ct., Saskatoon, SK, S7L 6A8.
