Obituary of Ella Susan Hildebrand

With love and sadness we announce the passing of our dear Ella Hildebrand on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 102 years of age. Ella was born on Saturday, May 5, 1917 on the family homestead south of Southey, SK. She attended school in Southey and later Markinch while living on the family farm south of Markinch. After high school, she went to Success Business College in Regina. Ella worked at the Rural Municipal office in Cupar before moving to Regina in 1949. She worked at Western Tractor (later Western Limited) as executive secretary for George Solomon for 45 years.

In the 1930’s during her school years, Ella played the piano with her brothers in the Hildebrand orchestra. She was a very gifted musician and their orchestra was widely known.

There were many things that brought Ella joy in her lifetime. She had her music, her faith and trust in God, her casino visits, her work at Western Tractor, her many friends and of course her family. Ella was a woman of deep faith in God. She was a member of St. Anne Roman Catholic Parish and a faithful CWL member.

She was predeceased by her parents Molly (Nargang) and Louie Hildebrand; her five sisters and seven brothers; five nephews and three nieces. Ella was the last living member of a large and loving family. She will be sadly missed by her “kids”-her twenty five living nieces and nephews and their families. Each of her kids were special to her. She is also survived by many, many friends.

Special thanks to family and friends who provided kind, loving care for Ella in her last days. Thank you to Dr. Stuart McMillan, Chris, Linda, Shannon, Jean and the nurses of Palliative Home Care who made it possible for Ella to experience a peaceful death in her home.

Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne, 1701 Cowan Cres. Regina, SK, on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.
