EXTENDED OBITUARY

Early in the evening of Thursday, November 7, 2019, Sheila unexpectedly passed away quietly in the Pasqua Hospital.

She was born in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan on November 1, 1952 to Jim and Doris MacPherson. Sheila was the second of five siblings.  She grew up on the MacPherson family farm where she had a wonderful childhood.

She spent her days exploring, riding horses and getting into trouble with her siblings, cousins and the Ring Leader and biggest kid of them all, her dad who she adored. It was not all fun and games, as there were chores and hard work involved and Sheila was expected to do her share. She attended Vibank School and after graduation she began her first job as a Park Attendant at the McLean Provincial Park.  This was a perfect fit as she was an “outdoors” girl and loved her time there.

Following a move to Regina, she started working for the Federal Government as a General Administration Agent, ultimately retiring from that position in 2007.

Sheila loved baseball and spent many happy hours playing ball both during her high school years and on a mixed league during her time with the Federal Government.  According to the “Baseball Stories,” she had a wicked left hand windmill pitch. She also caught a line drive to her side and received an autograph from Spalding as a result of the imprint left by the ball!

Curling took over the winter months and she spent time out there sweeping the ice with her many friends and competitors.

Sheila loved spending time with her nieces and nephews throughout their childhood.  Together they enjoyed many adventures which included road trips, water slides, the Exhibition, lake time, and much more.  She was a well-loved Auntie who gifted them with many wonderful memories over the years.

Sheila was generous of spirit, kind, caring and she loved farm and family above all else. Most weekends you would find her back at the farm spending time with her mom and dad. Family and many friends who visited recall that there was a permanent welcome mat at the MacPherson farm.

In later years, Sheila continued to socialize with her many friends enjoying crib tournaments and games, lunches and evenings at the Eagles Club and the Regina Senior Citizens Centre.

Sheila was easy to laugh and loved to drag out the family treasure chest of memories reminiscing over all the wonderful stories, memories and experiences. As a family, they were the best of times.
