Obituary of Louise Ella Pylypuk

LOUISE PYLYPUK February 8, 1922 - February 26, 2013 Louise passed away in Regina, in the presence of family on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Ada Driscoll; brothers Raymond, Vincent and Richard; sister Ruth Atkinson; brothers-in-law Lloyd Atkinson, Ave Weiss and Arnie Vossen and nephews Jim Atkinson and Barry Bell. Louise is survived by her husband of 67 years, Steve; sons Percy (Sharon), Wayne (Trudy) and Dean (Laura); grandchildren Jennifer, Carrie Ann, Nathan, Ira, Renee; great-grandchildren Brenden, Darien, Emma, Sydney and Cole. She is also survived by sisters Reba Weiss, Dorothy Vossen, Fay Driscoll, Ada (Hector) Boulet and sister-in-law Cec Driscoll. Mom grew up on a farm near Gouverneur, SK, where she also attended school. She loved the company of her siblings and they shared many good times. In 1943, she enlisted with the Canadian Womens Army Corps and was stationed at Calgary, AB. It was here she met Steve, a member of the Royal Canadian Artillery. The two were married May 4, 1945. Their first home was in the Kamanatha district near Semans, SK. In 1962, the family moved to Raymore and Louise opened a beauty shop in their home. Her family cant recall a time she turned a customer away, no matter the hour or day of the week. In 1983, she retired her scissors and closed the shop. The Pylypuks moved to their condo in Regina in 1994, where Louise enjoyed her weekly bridge game with the condo ladies and the occasional trip to the casino. An avid Blue Jays fan, Mom spent many hours watching baseball, golf and curling on television with Dad. Louise continued to practice her Catholic faith her whole life. She was a dedicated CWL member and volunteered at the church for many years. After decades of caring for others, mom herself needed care and became a resident of Golden Years Manor. It is here she spent her final days. Funeral Mass for Louise will be celebrated at Little Flower Roman Catholic Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jose Periyilkatte presiding. Special thanks to Tara Singh and staff of Golden Years Manor for the love and support shown to Mom this past year. Thank you to Dr. Egware, Rev. Dan Rafael, Rev. Jose Periyilkatte as well as Speers Funeral Chapel for their compassion and assistance at this difficult time. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
