Obituary of Clayton Joel Peterson

PETERSON - Clayton Joel 1923 - 2008 PETERSON - Clayton passed away August 23, 2008 at the Veteran's Ward at Wascana Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his parents; one sister; and one brother. Clayton is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret; sons, Larry (Joanne) of Cowichan Bay BC, Wayne (Deb) of Sherwood Park AB, Don (Gwen) of Moose Jaw; and daughter Janis of Saskatoon. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jennifer and Mark of Sherwood Park, Erik of Calgary, Alison of Saskatoon, and Verenna, Vanessa and Layne of Regina, and their mother Verity Willway; one sister Hazel Hilland of Calgary; and four great-grandchildren. After high school Clayton joined the R.C.A.F. becoming a flying instructor, being discharged in 1945. He then attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Clayton worked for the Department of Immigration until 1962, then with P.F.R.A. in the land section, retiring in 1978. He continued farming until 1990. Special thanks to the Nurses and staff at Veteran's Wing 3-5, for their care and compassion for Clayton. The family is very grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clayton's memory, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 - 3rd Avenue N., Saskatoon SK S7K 2H8 or to the charity of one's own choice. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 190 Massey Road, Regina. Interment will be held at Sunset Cemetery, Moose Jaw SK.
