Obituary of Dorothy Margaret Off

OFF, Dorothy

Dorothy passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2020.  She was born in 1935 to Edward and Mary (Posten) Halwachs in Regina, SK.  She grew up in Regina and attended Haultain School and Luther College.  Following grade 12 she attended Balfour Collegiate, graduating with distinction from their Secretarial Program and worked at Balfour as a secretary following graduation.  Dorothy was introduced to Orville by her friend, Shirley Ciz during their High School years and they dated for four years before marrying in July 1956.  They moved to Denver, Colorado where Orville completed university and Dorothy worked for General Electric.  Following Orv’s graduation they moved to Calgary where Dorothy worked for Bailey Selburn Oil and Gas and Orv for Sun Oil.  They were transferred to Regina in 1959 and have lived there since.  Dorothy was an excellent cook, homemaker and hostess who enjoyed entertaining with dinner parties, buffets and cocktail parties.  To name only a few, she’s known for her cabbage rolls, lasagna and Christmas cake. Dorothy was a member of the Queen City Kinettes where she worked on many committees including their successful fashion shows.  She worked part time at Manpower for many years, eventually becoming a partner in the company.  Dorothy enjoyed her membership at the Wascana Country Club where she won some nine hole trophies and also participated in many social events. They were also fortunate to enjoy many winters at their patio home in Scottsdale AZ where they were members of Camelback Golf Club for over 20 years. Thank you to the following staff, Monica, Maria, Jenny, Arlene, Jackie and Margaret at Gardiner Point Care Home for the care they provided these past seventeen months. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3510 Queen Street, Regina, SK on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Craig Moeller, presiding.  Interment will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in memory of Dorothy to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, 1874 Scarth Street, Regina, SK S4P 4B3 or to the Regina Humane Society, P.O. Box 3143 Stn Main, Regina, SK S4P 3G7 or to a charity of your choice.
