Obituary of Joseph Berkley James Uncles

JOSEPH BERKLEY JAMES UNCLES It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Uncles announces his passing on April 30, 2009 at the age of 90. Born in England, Joe immigrated to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan at a young age. He served with the Canadian Air Force during World War II. While stationed in England he met Sylvia Hall and they were married in 1945. Following the war, Joe and Sylvia settled in Moose Jaw where Joe worked for Westons Bakery. In 1966 the family moved to Regina when Joe was transferred there. Joe was a dedicated worker, never missing a day of work. He was a Master Warrant Officer with the Saskatchewan Dragoons in Moose Jaw and was known for catering the delicious shrimp and oyster suppers at the Armories. He was a quiet, thoughtful man who loved spending time with his family and friends. He could fix anything and enjoyed maintaining his home and vehicles. He also loved dancing, listening to music, and spending time in his bountiful gardens. For the past few years Joe resided at Marion Chateau where he enjoyed the many acts of kindness shown by the staff and residents there. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sylvia, in 2007 and by his brother-in-law, Fred Jones. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his son, Barry, and daughter-in-law, Nancy; grand-daughter, Dena and her husband, Derek of Calgary, AB; and grandson, Joel, of Regina. He will also be missed by his sister, Vera Jones of Burnaby, BC; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Gladie Uncles of Moose Jaw, SK; nephew John Uncles of Calgary, nieces, Karen Jackson of Calgary and Leslie Ell of Regina, their families; and by Sylvias family in England. The Uncles family would like to express its gratitude to Dr. D. Brown, Dr. L. Blignaut, Dr. M. OGrady, and the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre for their compassionate care provided over the past several years. Special thanks are also extended to the staff of the Regina EMS, Pasqua Hospital Emergency and Unit 4C for their expert care provided during the past week. A private funeral will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire contributions may be made in Joes memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St., Regina, SK., S4P 2R3 or to a charity of ones choice.
