Obituary of Mervin Jacob Fiesel

Mervin (Merv) Jacob Fiesel

February 3, 1942 – April 1, 2020

It is with great sorrow we share with you the news of the passing of Merv Fiesel of Regina, SK. After a lengthy battle with cancer, Merv passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Born in Regina, SK, Merv was the only child of Jake and Minnie Fiesel. He met the love of his life Barb and they married on April 15, 1963. Merv was a beloved son, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, team mate, crew chief, scout and coach, inspiring his children and so many others who knew and loved him. He was district manager of Microtel for many years before retiring at the age of 52 to then work and play harder in his retirement years on projects of his own and working alongside his children on theirs. Beloved hockey, football and baseball player, coach, Road Knight member, and racer, Merv had a special connection with so many. Together with Barb, Merv loved to spend time with their family and pets, boating, gardening, cheering on their children and grandchildren in all their endeavours, attending Rider games and spending time having a beer with family and friends at their cottage on Pasqua Lake. Merv was a perfectionist in all he did from building the family cottage to redoing houses, and building his Plymouth. He was predeceased by his parents Jake and Minnie Fiesel, parents-in-law James and Esther Taylor, and sister-in-law Gayle Taylor. Merv is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara; children Jamie (Shelley), Martie (Nancy), Bob (Sherry), and Pam (James); grandchildren Terena, Renee (Adrien), Tannaya (Dave), Brooklyn (Anders), Jacob, Taylor, Camden, Mac; great-grandchildren Devyn, Sara Rose, Jordan; brother-in-law Bob Taylor; nieces Jackie (Kent) and Shannie (Trever); nephew Dave (Tiana) and their children Claire and Jonah; long-time friend Marty Read; pets Lily and Luke (as well as numerous granddogs), along with many more family and friends. We wish to express our thanks to the staff of Palliative Care for the wonderful care and comfort provided to Merv. A memorial service and interment will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Merv to Hospitals of Regina Foundation, Palliative Care, 225 – 1874 Scarth Street, Regina SK, S4P 4B3 or online at hrf@hrf.sk.ca
