MEREDYK, Helena Rozalia

Helena passed away peacefully at Santa Maria Senior Home in Regina on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the age of 91 years. Helena is survived by her children Stan (Janey) Meredyk of Cochrane AB, Josie (Glenn) Pettersen of Gladmar SK, Donna Fayant of Regina SK; sister-in-law Kristina Meredyk of Calgary AB; grandchildren Carrie (Murray) Hlavka, Cory (Carley) Pettersen, Ryan Fayant, Shawn Meredyk, Mark (Deanne) Meredyk; great-grandchildren Cheyann (Brenann), Jolynn, Jaxon, John, Brooklyn and Thomas. She is also survived by her sister Maria Grzeski in Hamburg Germany and numerous nieces and nephews. Helena was predeceased by her husband Walter; parents Antonin Wisniewski and Stefania Kowalska; son Janusz; sister Juzefa; brother Jan; son-in-law Willy Fayant; father-in-law Stanley Meredyk; brothers-in-law Roman Meredyk, Ziegfried Grzeski and Stanley Misztela. Helena was born on October 3, 1928 in Lwow, Poland. After WWII, she along with her mother, brother and two sisters moved to Gdansk, Poland where she met Walter, whom she married and raised a family.  In 1959, Helena and Walter immigrated to Canada with their children and re-united with Walter’s father, Stanley Meredyk in Minton SK. A couple of years later they moved to Regina SK where they both found employment. Helena always liked to joke and tease and really loved to sing. She also enjoyed knitting, puzzles, playing pool, going to a bingo and watching wrestling on TV. We can’t forget her cooking special perogies at the Grotto Spaghetti House and working in housekeeping at the Regina Inn for many years.
