Obituary of Arline Antoinette Schick

SCHICK, Arline

July 31, 1934 – May 6, 2020

The family of Arline Schick are saddened to announce her peaceful passing after a short illness, on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Arline, born July 31, 1934, was the 4th child to Annie and John Wotherspoon of Langenburg, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband Ray; siblings Wilfred (June), Albert, Leonard, Shirley and Stanley (Evelyn); niece Carol; and son-in-law Alan. Arline is survived by her daughters Judy (Alan) and Gail (Darren); grandchildren Andrea (Daryl), Nicole (Dan) and Ryan (Destiny); great-grandchildren Aubrey, Niko and Lincoln; nieces Lynette and Michelle; and nephew Robert. Arline moved to Regina as a young woman and met her husband Ray at a church social. In 1960 they built a house on the outskirts of the city and would tell the story of how they had to park the car blocks away and walk in, until the roads were built. They travelled in Canada and the USA while enjoying many trips to Las Vegas over the years. Arline held a number of office jobs over the years, including at the Land Titles Office, The Bay and at Radio Supply. She liked to keep busy, including knitting, sewing, quilting, baking and bingo. Her cabbage rolls were a special family favourite. Due to circumstances at this time, a Graveside Service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. The graveside service will be broadcast to vehicles in the cemetery on radio FM 106.9. Guests are asked to remain in their vehicles in order to comply with gathering size restrictions. These restrictions require that no one should leave their vehicle unless directed to do so by Speers personnel. To view the livestream of the service please click on the link to Speers TV at the top of Arline’s Tribute Page. Throughout the years Arline enjoyed attending Funeral Masses and luncheons. So at this time due to the restrictions, we ask that family and friends so wishing, would take a moment and have a cup of coffee or tea, a sandwich and a few dainties in memory of Arline. The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospice for the compassionate care Arline received in the last few months of her life.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Arline’s name may be made to Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK S4R 8P6. Relatives and friends may reach out to the family by visiting Arline’s Tribute Page at www.speersfuneralchapel.com and let them know you are thinking of them during this difficult time.
