From my childhood memories, I remember your mom as a rosy-cheeked, cheerful and hard-working wife and mother. I also recall she was an awesome cook and she shared, with my mom, a great love for flowers and plants. To live as long as she did is a very special gift... My sincere sympathy to the family and I wish you all fondest of memories.

Thank you for sharing the photos of your mother. It was wonderful to see her well-loved and cared for in the years since I last saw her in Regina. Our mothers were good friends, of that group of ladies of the same generation, bound by their Chinese traditions and raising their families in Regina. I remember the amazing apple tree by the back door at Park and Broadway - the delicious fruit! I hope that your mother and mine are now enjoying a plate of oranges and having a good long chat again.

Dear Wongs,
My condolences on the passing of your mother. I met your mom decades ago when you guys lived on Park and Broadway. I knew Richard, who moved to Calgary, I think. Filler moved to Appleton Wisconsin, I think. I worked with Pearl at the Oriental Bowl. The years fly by. Hope you guys are all doing well during this difficult time.

In Honour of My Mom...
By the grace of the Divine Realm, my mom and I were given a very special gift, which lasted from July 16, 2018 until Mother's Day this year. I have learned that the ghosts of our past no longer exist when presented with a golden opportunity to re-create a relationship and to create a new reality. And so the healing began.
How blessed we were to laugh together, eat together and watch Chinese movies. I don't recall ever laughing with mom while I was growing up, but that changed in these past two years.
The lessons, which have become gifts arrived in different packages.
I had the opportunity to teach my mom about love and kindness. I expressed my love by offering her little humble acts of kindness... cooking her favourite foods, soaking and rubbing her feet, taking her blood pressure three or four times a day, and just making sure she was comfortable. It was at that point when I realized that SHE was teaching me... still.
I marveled at what an incredibly strong, independent and selfless woman she was. She made it easy to care for her, especially when she was living with me.
My whole life, I don't recall her hugging or kissing me, but I learned how to love her in a way that I never thought I could. Amongst all the wonderful memories, the best memory of all is her giggling.
My dearest mom, may you continue to giggle forever. Bless you for all the gifts. Thank you for all your selflessness and sacrifice you showed me while growing up, but never understood or could appreciate until now. May the next part of your precious soul's journey, be one of peace, love and joy... and lots of giggles. I love you.
