BOBBEE, Eleanore Mary
(Nee Garvey)
June 13, 1927 – June 30, 2020
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Eleanore on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at the General Hospital, soon after celebrating her 93rd birthday. Eleanore was born in a farm house at St. Andrews, a Scottish settlement south of Wapella, SK. Eleanore attended school at St. Andrews and moved to Regina at 16 where she began her working career including: Army & Navy, Isman Hide & Fur, Dorothy Gould’s, Capital Optical, Medical & Dental, Provincial Health Dept, Dolman Realty, etc. She often shared her memories of these times and the friends she made and stayed in contact with over the years.
She married Frank Bobbee in 1949 (married for 67 years) and their family grew to include two sons, Carl and Warren. They moved many times in Regina – the original house flippers. They spent a few winters in B.C. in Westbank, Richmond, and Kelowna, eventually moving to Kelowna for ten years where they became lifelong friends with Deb and Steve Everitt and Ben and Diane Gwaltney.
Eleanore was a fun loving woman who enjoyed sharing a cocktail and a laugh. Visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her favorite things and always brought out the sparkle in her eyes; a close second was going out for supper, the casino and shopping.
Eleanore is survived by sons Carl and Gail Bobbee and their family Tyler and Shauna Bobbee (Seth and Greta); Trevor and Megan Bobbee (Cruz and Jett); Warren and Gale Bobbee and their family Alison Bobbee and Eric Anderson; Brittany Bobbee and John Tokar; brother Bernie Garvey; sisters-in-law Muriel Garvey and Laura Garvey; brother-in-law Jim Brass; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Eleanore was predeceased by her husband Frank William Bobbee in 2017, her parents, Cecil Garvey and Marion Miskelly (Garvey); sisters Katherine O’Donnell, Nora Goldie, Monica Cinnamon-Osborne and Marion Brass; brothers Donald, Ted, Edward and Lawrence Gross (foster brother); nephews Brad Garvey and Bryan Garvey.
For the last few years, Eleanore called Harbour Landing Village, and more recently Green Falls Landing, her home. The family sincerely thanks the staff and residents for their care and consideration and bringing out Eleanore’s new found joy in exercise classes. A special thank you to Janet Miller (No Place Like Home) for her support over the past five years. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a private Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. To view the livestream of the service, please click on the link to Speers TV at the top of Eleanore’s Tribute Page.
