Our family became neighbours with the MacLeods when we moved in next door to them on Shannon Road in 1968. Like Barb, my mother Phyllis had four elementary school-age children to care for, and during the three years we were neighbours I remember them going on grocery runs together (with Barb driving, as my mom did not) and having coffee visits where they’d discuss the latest news about Ronnie, George and the rest of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
While our family moved up to Saskatoon in 1971, I stayed friends with the MacLeod children and over the decades had many opportunities to see Barb and Dave — both in their home, and at various social gatherings. As others here have commented, Barb was a very kind and generous person who will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
On behalf of the Beatty family, I’d like to express my condolences to Dave, Kevin, Tim, Mark and Heather and their partners, children, grandchildren and extended family.

If the stars seem a little brighter you know that Barb has been polishing the dust off them and if the clouds look like flower pots you will know that Barb is planting geraniums.
By now she will have a flock of angels organized for a golf game, bridge game or polka party. Barb was a fun loving friend and she and David were our friends for many years. We will miss her so much but I know she is in heaven with all the angels. God has a special place for her. Rest in peace dear friend.
Our condolences to David and their wonderful family

Uncle David, Kevin, Marilyn, Time, Leona, Mark, Carla, Heather & Tom,
As you know, Auntie Barbara and Uncle David are like second parents to me. I've known them for as long as I can remember - Christmas Eve, church at St. Martin's, New Year's Day, and countless Rider-related events and all those evenings of when our parents played bridge and we sang "We are marching to Pretoria" when we were little! The world feels a bit sadder now that Uncle David must carry on alone.
Auntie Barb loved everyone more than herself and she always included our family in celebrations. No trip to Regina was complete without a visit to their home, which generally included a meal with homemade buns and vegetables from the garden.
Always grateful for the love and support she gave to me, my brothers and our children. Whenever they were hosting, my own children (Cayman and Scout) and John's sons (Jordan and Jake) were invited.
With love and appreciation,
- Maureen

When we received the news of Barb's passing our thoughts immediately turned to our many memories of a dear friend. Karen spoke up right away. Before we were even married she was making one of her first visits to our house on Shannon Road. She didn't know our family well yet and the atmosphere was guarded. In strolled Barbara MacLeod with a toque pulled down low on her head rendering her best impersonation of Bob and Doug MacKenzie! The mood immediately lightened and there were smiles all around! I can remember few, if any, times when I was in Barb's presence when I didn't leave with a smile. That's a special power, it seems to me, and one of the reasons why she has been and will remain one of the people that I have encountered in my life that I admire the most. To David, Kevin, Tim, Mark, Heather and all the extended MacLeod family: thank you for sharing her with us. We also share in your loss and welcome the opportunity of keeping her memory alive.
God Bless,
Greg and Karen Harasen

One would be hard pressed to find a more loving, optimistic, generous and kind person than our dear friend Barbara MacLeod. All of these qualities stem from a deep faith that animated her love for family, friends or anyone she encountered as she made her way through life. Hospitable and welcoming would also describe her and loyalty also fits very well indeed.
Barbara loved children, her own and everyone else's. She knew how to put a delicious meal on the table which she often shared with others. A serious fault was that she loved the Roughriders too much and suffered with their ups and downs but she also loved our country, her church and an old time waltz with David who was her number one dance partner since high school.
I guess the best way to deal with the pain of losing her is to be thankful that we she was amongst us at all. Deepest sympathy to Dave and family from Lorne and Velma Harasen.
