Arthur Enns, formerly of Avonlea, SK, passed away in Regina on July 17, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 89. Art was predeceased by his dear wife of 60 years, Colleen; brothers Alfred, Peter, and William Enns; sister Isabel Grasby; sister-in-law Wanda Thompson and brother-in-law Wayne Thompson. He is survived by his son Brett (Jennie) Enns and children Cole (Megan), Jayne (Mark), Emma (Brian) and Ethan; daughter Shauna (Tim) Archer and children Kaleb and Annie; his brother Stanley Enns; sister-in-law Naidene Thompson; special niece Kim (Eric) Bjornsson and boys; many other nieces, nephews, and good friends. The youngest child of Jake and Henrietta Enns, Art was born at Plum Coulee, MB, in 1934 and grew up on the farm at Nesbitt, MB. After the loss of his father and older brother Peter, Art dropped out of high school to work for Manitoba Power Commission, supporting his mother and moving her to Wawanesa, MB. Thinking he would head west, Art began work for SaskPower in 1955 and while stationed in Ogema, SK, he met and married Colleen in 1961. Brett and Shauna joined the family soon after. The family moved to Avonlea in 1969 when Art became the District Operator there. He retired from SaskPower in 1993 and he and Colleen moved to Regina in 2017. Art loved growing flowers, especially roses and gladiolas that he happily gave away. A lover of dogs, he was often seen walking on the country roads around Avonlea with his furry best friend by his side. Hunting, fishing and generally being outside in nature were his favourite pastimes. He was a lifetime member of Avonlea/Rouleau Masonic Lodge #156. A man of faith, Art was kind to all he met, hard-working, and always for the underdog. He was a loyal friend, a loving husband, and a proud father and grandpa who will be deeply missed until we are reunited in heaven. The family is grateful for the wonderful staff at College Park II and the compassionate care of the staff at Regina Pasqua Hospital Unit 4B. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave, Regina, SK. Friends may donate to the Avonlea Drop-In Centre, where Art spent many hours enjoying company of friends. Donations can be made out to Avonlea Friendly Neighbours and sent to Box 383, Avonlea, SK, S0H 0C0.
