Obituary of Lloyd Harold Bouey

BOUEY, Lloyd Harold

1933 – 2023

Lloyd passed away peacefully in the early morning of August 16th, 2023. He was born on November 10th, 1933, in Nipawin, SK. and lived for the next 7 years lived in the area of Carrot River before he moved with family to the Viewfield area of southern Sask.

He was predeceased by his father Pete, and his mother Freida. Lloyd is survived by his best friend and loving partner of 28 years Bernice; his brother Clifford; and his children Val (Lyle), Darryl, Denise (Ernie), Maureen (Guy), Laurie (Kent), Karen, Scott (Dee), Rob (Jennie); 12 grandchildren;11 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and his long-time family friend Marlene Klotz as well as extended family and many friends.

Lloyd loved spending time with family and friends, farming, fixing, fishing, dancing and of course the Saskatchewan Roughriders!

He was raised on farm near Viewfield, SK. and lived with his parents and brother Cliff. He later moved to the city of Regina and for 34 years worked proudly for the City of Regina as a Transit Bus Driver. During his career, he won many awards for his driving ability, he also made many lifelong friends.

Lloyd, retired in 1992 and in 1995 married the love of his life Bernice. Together, they had many exciting adventures. They travelled to the Caribbean, Panama, Alaska, Newfoundland, Churchill. They visited kids in Great Britain, Australia, Bermuda, the USA, Nova Scotia, BC, PEI and Saskatchewan. The song, “I have been everywhere man”, by Hank Snow comes to mind…

Lloyd loved to dance and when he met Bernice he gained the perfect partner, together they attended polka fests and dances everywhere. On one occasion they entered a dance competition on a cruise ship and much to their surprise they won! This gave them instant celebrity status during the cruise!

Lloyd was also a ‘’fix it guy”, all his children have benefited from his ideas, planning and construction. When he and Bernice moved from their home on Anson Street in Regina, he sold his tools and ‘machines’, and anyone who got some of them commented on how lovingly cared for these “vintage tools “were.

Covid was not kind to Lloyd, during this period of lockdown and uncertainty he transitioned to a wheelchair and his world became a lot smaller. His good friends, the entire “west end gang” of Marian Gardens have supported both Lloyd and Bernice with their friendships, visits, and many “happy hours”.
