Marilyn June Petrie passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, in Regina, SK at the age of 88 years, after a brief battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at St. James United Church, 4506 Sherwood Dr. Regina, SK, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.

Marilyn was born on June 20, 1935, in Maryfield, SK to parents Joseph and Edith Adamson.  She was raised on the family farm in Fairlight, SK along with her siblings William (Billy), Joan, and Alvin.  Marilyn had the honor of being the sole member of the Maryfield graduating class of 1953.  Upon graduation she moved to Saskatoon to attend the University of Saskatchewan School of Nursing.  It was there that she met, and later married, David Petrie, who was attending St. Andrew’s College of Theology. Marilyn and Dave had four children; Randall (Calgary), Stephanie (Calgary), Geoff (Nanaimo) and Myrna (Regina). David’s career as a United Church minister provided the opportunity for Marilyn to practice her nursing skills in various locations including Saskatoon, Wolseley, SK, and Trenton, NJ.  Upon their final move to Regina, Marilyn joined the teaching staff at SIAST (now Saskatchewan Polytech) School of Nursing where she taught for 21 years.  Marilyn retired in 1997. Marilyn had a lifelong passion for baseball, from playing it in her youth, baseball scrums in the backyard with the kids, to flying to Toronto to watch her beloved Blue Jays play.  Every game was marked on her calendar, and she watched them faithfully.  This passion extended on to football and her ongoing hopes and dreams for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Edith, and siblings Billy and Alvin. She will be sadly missed by her sister Joan; her children Randall (Jeannette) and two grandchildren Steven and Sarah, daughter Stephanie and two grandchildren, Dexter, and Cody (Grey); son Geoff (Allyson); and daughter Myrna (Ken).
