My deepest condolences to the the Schmeling family at this time of loss. I visited his Mom and Dad in the early 1980's when I was posted out in Regina with the RCMP. Both his parents , Herb and and his brother Art welcomed me with open arms. It was great pleasure to visit them in Ricetown and showed me their farms. What an experience it was. Herb was a kind hearted fellow that surely tell you stories of his life on the farm. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. He was a great friend and a family man. I know Olga and family will find it very difficult without him now. He is now in Gods hands. He will be in our hearts forever and ever. Peace be with you Herb.

Dear Olga..... I was sorry to read tonight to read of Herb’s passing. My sincere sympathy to you and your family. I remember so well the pleasant times Harvey and I spent with you folks in Great Britain in 2002. We so enjoyed the stories and adventures of your travels far and wide.
Harvey passed away in 2006 and I moved from Regina to Sidney BC in 2011. I miss SK dearly at times, but not the cold and shovelling. Thinking of you and wishing you good health in this strange world we are living in this year.

A tribute to my big brother who always enjoyed a chuckle, was up for a challenge, always curious, loved life and always pushing the limits.
Love you Herb, remembering the good times.

Uncle Herb always made me feel special. I have been blessed to have Herb and Olga as Godparents. From the time I was young girl sitting on his knee to the last visit in Regina last year, I have always felt loved and important. We live in northern Alberta- at least nine hours from the Riceton farm. One day I looked out the window and there was a strange vehicle approaching - it was Uncle Herb and Aunt Olga. They came to visit, to see our farm, and our home. Uncle Herb road with Don hauling bails and toured our land and operation. We fondly remember that visit and all of our visits to the farm in Riceton or in Regina. We will miss you, Uncle Herb. Love you!
