SCHMELING, Herbert Alfred

Herb Schmeling, late of Riceton, SK, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2020 at the age of 93 years. Predeceased by parents Fred and Helen; Infant brother Harold; brother Arthur; and brother-in-law Gordon. He is survived by his loving wife Olga; son Don (Lenore); daughter Leanne Morris; sisters Irene (Gordon) Hotchen, and Elaine (Uwe) Wassermann; sister-in-law Else; grandchildren Conrad, Michael (Laura), and Matthew (Amanda) Schmeling, Jessica (Joshua), Michelle (Skylar), and Natalie Morris; great-grandchildren Sabine, Franca, Ruby, Dylan, Isobel, and Andrea. Herb attended Luther College and soon began his life as a farmer. He started farming with his father and brother, and in his later years worked with his son Don, passing down the farming tradition. Herb and Olga would have been married for 70 years come May 2021. Together they enjoyed travelling and visiting new places, family, and friends. Herb was a man of few words but had great pride in his family. His love for farming and family was closely followed by his love for chocolate ice cream.
