I write to extend my condolences and the condolences of the entire Nugent family and our aunt, Anne Metz, to the family of Lil McArton on her passing to join Bob. Bob and Lil were stalwart members of the farming community in the area south of Dilke. Both possessed a ‘can do’ attitude and a positive outlook that was most appreciated by their friends and neighbours. They raised a wonderful family together. Lil was, along with Marie Nugent, Anne Metz, Peg Mortin and others, a member of the ‘Birthday Girls’ that celebrated each other's birthdays annually. Lil faced the health challenges which come with age with a cheerful disposition and very few complaints which was a model for us all. Special mention must be made of Brian’s assistance which permitted Lil to live in her own home in Bethune well into her 90s. Such a feat would not have been possible without him.
An Irish saying goes this way:
"Those we love don’t go away
They walk beside us every day
Unseen, unheard but always near
Still loved, still missed and very dear."
At this difficult time, may you find comfort in the memories of a life well lived . . .
