Obituary of Anne Craig

CRAIG, Anne

1929 – 2022

Margaret Anne (McFarlane) Craig passed away in Regina, SK on May 26, 2022, at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth James Craig, and her son, William Peter Craig. She was loved and will be missed by her daughter, Mary Margaret Craig (Bruce Steele) of Regina, her daughter-in-law, Marjorie Craig of Edmonton, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Ashley Craig (James Thomas), Timothy Craig, Andrew Craig (Yanhong Xu), Peter Steele (MacKenzie Hamon), Henry and Charlie Thomas, and Alex Craig.

Raised in Paisley ON, the youngest of four McFarlane siblings (Grace, Bob, Vicki) Anne loved working alongside her parents in the family's general store where she learned to value responsibility, friendliness, and doing a good job. After Anne and Ken moved to Owen Sound in 1967, she made excellent use of those retail skills as a dependable volunteer, for 33 years, at the Owen Sound hospital gift shop. Anne convened countless popular “No Frills Picnics” at Harrison Park for beloved visiting nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She was a competitive lawn bowler, a meticulous gardener, and an enthusiastic proponent of the board game “Aggravation” which she learned from lawn bowling friends and taught to all her relatives. We have all spent a good many hours over the Aggravation board, thanks to Anne.

In her later years as Anne's memory declined, she retained her life-long habits of impeccable manners, gratitude, generosity, not complaining, and minding her own business. A role model to the end. Interment will take place at Sanctuary Park, Port Elgin, Ontario.
